THE latest Government figures show that eight people who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died in Somerset in a single day.
It means a total of 435 people in the county council area have now died from any cause within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test since the start of the pandemic.
The latest figures are made up of two people in Somerset West and Taunton, four in Sedgemoor and two in Mendip. There were no deaths in South Somerset for the 24-hour period.
The total number of people who have died in each district since the start of the pandemic is now 117 in South Somerset; 105 in Somerset West and Taunton; 104 in Sedgemoor; and 109 in Mendip.
