A WOMAN in her 60's has sadly died after collapsing at Highbridge Recycling Centre, Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) has confirmed. 

Emergency services were called to the recycling centre in Isleport Lane yesterday (September 2) following reports that a person had collapsed but despite their best efforts the woman sadly died. 

Avon and Somerset Police said the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious.

“At 5.50pm yesterday officers were called to Highbridge Recycling Centre on Bennett Road following the sudden death of a woman aged in her 60s," an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said.

"The death is not suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.”

A spokesperson for SWP said their thoughts are with the person's family at this difficult time.

"Viridor, which operates the Highbridge Recycling Centre in Somerset on behalf of Somerset Waste Partnership, can confirm that a member of the public collapsed and, despite the very best efforts of the emergency services, sadly died at the recycling centre yesterday (Wednesday, September 2)," the SWP spokesperson said.

"Viridor and Somerset Waste Partnership said that their thoughts were with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service added: “South Western Ambulance Service attended an incident on Isleport Lane, Highbridge following a call on Wednesday 2 September at 4.55pm.”
