ONE of Britain’s most popular classic cars is included in a classic car auction set to take place this month.

Charterhouse will host an online classic car auction on July 29, with an MG BGT among the lots.

“MG is perhaps one of Britain's best known and loved classic cars with the B possibly its most popular model produced,” said Matthew Whitney, from Charterhouse.

“With great MG club scenes, a full range of spare parts and although over half a million were produced, including the roadster, MGC and V8, they are still enjoyed by enthusiasts and collectors today.”

The MGB GT in the Charterhouse auction rolled off the production line in 1972.

Owned by a retired engineer for the past seven years, it has undergone a total restoration programme.

This not only included a full mechanical rebuild, but also a new Heritage body shell.

This chrome bumper coupe is painted in British Racing Green, the interior is trimmed in black leather with a walnut dash and it also has the desirable overdrive and wire wheels for that period look.

With the owner not getting any younger, he has decided now is the time to let someone else enjoy the car, Matthew said, and has entered his beloved MG into the Charterhouse classic & vintage car auction.

It has an estimated price of between £10,000 and 12,000, which is less than the cost of a new Heritage body shell.

Charterhouse are now accepting entries for the auction of classic and vintage cars on July 29, followed by classic and vintage motorcycles on August 27, and their auction of silver, jewellery and watches with a selection of wine, port and whisky on August 6 and 7.
