A FORMER railway worker and plumber died due to exposure to asbestos, an inquest has heard.
John Humphries, 84, of Chard, was a brake fitter on wagons for British Railways, the hearing in Taunton was told.
His job involved removing brake linings which contained asbestos and replacing them with new ones which also contained asbestos.
In his plumbing jobs in the 1960s he worked in old buildings and old boiler houses which had asbestos in them.
Senior Somerset Coroner Tony Williams concluded that Mr Humprhies died last month as a result of exposure to asbestos and his death was due to an industrial disease.
