BURNHAM-ON-Sea Rotary Club has donated more than £2,500 to local good causes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Grants are being made to eight local groups to recognise the valuable work that they do.

The funds were raised by the club in the last year from its charitable events prior to the ‘lockdown'.

Groups which will benefit from the grants are as follows:

  • Somerset Help the Child - £500
  • Burnham Volunteer Support - £250
  • Childrens’ Hospice South West - £250
  • Highbridge Food Bank - £600
  • Burnham Scouts - £250
  • Burnham Sea Cadets - £250
  • Burnham Army Cadets - £250
  • The Bay Club - £250.

The club said cheque presentations may have to be done virtually due to social distancing restrictions.

Terry Spragg, president of Burnham-on-Sea Rotary Club, said: “The club is happy to offer some financial help to these very worthwhile groups at a time when their normal fundraising will have been impacted by the COVID situation”.
