A VEHICLE was severely damaged after a suspected arson attack near Yeovilton. 

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called at 12.05am on Monday (June 8) to reports of a fire in Bridgehampton. 

A fire engine from Yeovil was sent to the scene.

On arrival crews confirmed the fire was in a vehicle and it was well alight.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus wearers and one hose reel jet to tackle the fire.

A spokesperson for the fire service, said: "The vehicle was completely blocking the road, so police were requested to attend.

"The vehicle was severely damaged by fire and the cause was deliberate."
