A POPULAR cake shop has celebrated its first year in business by launching a cake delivery service during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tucked away in Oxford Street in Burnham-on-Sea DusiCake serves a variety of freshly baked cakes and cupcakes decorated with colourful, creative designs and punchy flavour combinations.

The shop, which is owned by award winning cake designer Dusica Roberts, celebrated its first anniversary on May 25 and launched its new cake delivery service.

Customers located within a five mile radius of the shop can order boxes of six, eight or 12 cupcakes through the DusiCake Facebook page and have them delivered to their home.

“We decided to start offering a cupcake delivery service last week to adapt to a new way of doing business while the pandemic is here,” Dusica said.

“We post up the weekly flavours, including our vegan and gluten free ranges, on our social media, then customers can place there order by Wednesday for a Friday delivery, delivery is free to the local area.

“We are keeping our shop closed until we feel it’s safe to open again.”

Dusica said opening the cake shop last year was ‘the best decision she ever made’ and thanked the community for their support.

“The shop has been great success. We’ve really become a well know brand locally which is an amazing feeling, but we’ve also had people tell us they’ve travel for miles just to come and buy our cakes,” Dusica said.

“We have had fantastic from the community since we opened the shop.

“I have worked from home as a cake designer in Burnham for several years now so I’m really lucky to already have great support from local people.

“Opening the shop has really widened our customer reach and we’ve had lots of support from other local businesses and the Chamber of Trade too.

“2021 will be an exciting and busy year with most of our wedding cakes postponed from this year,” Dusica said.

“We are in the process of setting up a new ordering system on our website, which should make it easier for customers to choose and order the perfect cake for them.”
