A NEW water rides and new changing rooms can now be built at a Brean water park after plans to extend its facilities were given the green light.

Brean Leisure Park, which owns Brean Splash, was seeking planning permission to extend its swimming pool building to expand its offering as part of a five year development plan.

Sedgemoor District Council approved the plans on April 6 and said the project cannot start until a construction traffic management plan has been submitted to and approved in writing by the authority.

The proposal includes plans to build a number of new rides including a wave rider that can be used by two people at the same time and a ‘Space bowl’ which is described as a 'high thrill water ride' as well as additional changing space.

A 'Water Play' section aimed at all ages and a new 'Multislide' which is aimed at families will also be built as well as a new outdoor pool which will include a 'Wave ball' pool with a beach.

Brean Leisure Park said the proposals are part of plans to extend the water park to provide additional changing space and improve its facilities. The expansion could create up to 20 new jobs.
