THE owners of a Berrow farm shop said they have been ‘overwhelmed’ by residents support after callous thieves stole fresh produce including eggs and milk from their shop.

Police are appealing for information after thieves broke into Westcroft Farm Shop in Red Road overnight from March 28 to 29 and stole a large amounts of fresh food including eggs, potatoes, milk, cheese, fruit and vegetables.

In a post on social media this week the shop’s owners said they were ‘extremely gutted and disappointed’ when they discovered their shop had been broken in to and described the thieves actions as ‘embarrassing.’

The shop, which has been busier in recent weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak, urged the public to get in touch with police if they had any information.

“We are open out of choice of our own, in hope that we can continue to support and help our customers during this already difficult time,” the shop’s owners said.

“Unfortunately some low life has stolen from us and now made it very difficult for us to fulfil orders, as well as potentially put any new orders back.

“We fully understand and appreciate this is a difficult time for all but turning to theft is an embarrassing and cheap way out.

“We would like to say a massive thank you for all the overwhelmingly kind words and support we have received.

“Everyone has made a tough day a lot easier for us.

“We thank everyone for their continued support and we will continue to serve as many of you as we can.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said an investigation has been launched into the incident and officers have circulated a Farm Watch message to try and track down the culprits.

The police said officers are asking anyone with information about the theft, or who has been offered produces in suspicious circumstances to get in touch with them.
