This week the Haygrove School hall had its lights turned down and volume turned up to celebrate the annual Haygrove Battle of the Bands contest.

Ten bands featuring students from all year groups took part in the concert, each adding their own unique twist to a classic track from the recent past.

The performances were judged by a panel of experts including local music teacher Craig Barnett, local vocal coach Simon Newton, Sedgemoor FM presenter Josh Perkins and assistant headteacher Leanne Mills.

Best band image went to the Jalapeno Poppers, while Blue Storm took the trophy home for audience participation.

New Q won the prize for best band from Year 7/8/9, who were also praised for their matching band t-shirts.

Year 11 student from the Jalapeno Poppers was recognised for his brilliant solo drumming, and band with most potential went to Lunacy. The overall best band award went to Year 11's The Elements of Music.
