THIS week in 1980, staff at Bridgwater Library worked around the clock to move 14,000 books ensuring the library could open on schedule.
A total of 30 volunteers gave up their time to carry the books which weighed more than seven tonnes overall.
The books were hauled the 50 yards from the King Street Methodist Church which had housed the library since the disastrous fire in 1978.
