THIS is the moment two swans in a rescue centre bowed their heads together - and their necks perfectly formed the shape of a love heart.

The male and female birds were bought to Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Highbridge.

There were reports the birds were trapped in the back garden of a house in nearby Athelney.

The male was so protective of the female, who was unable to stand, that it was decided to bring them both in together.

And the two birds have been so loving as the female recovers from problems moving around - despite not appearing to have any significant injuries.

They have been put in a pen together and the male continues to sit alongside the female showing the devotion they have as a pair.

The female swan is getting stronger on her feet and the finders are keen to get them back to their usual territory when she recovers.
