A BRIDGWATER man has been arrested on suspicion of grooming offences last night (Wednesday, February 12).

Police were called to reports of a disturbance in North Street in Bridgwater shortly before midnight, and shortly afterwards arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of grooming offences.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the man remains in police custody.

The spokesman said: "Our priority is to ensure that we identify and safeguard any children who may be at potential risk.

"We are committed to the safeguarding of young people and will act on various information and intelligence, which is provided to us."
