A YOUNG man who wrecked the automatic doors at the entrance of Taunton Station has been ordered to pay compensation.
Michael William Leggatt, 24, pleaded guilty at Taunton Magistrates' Court to intentionally damaging the main station doors in an incident on August 24 last year.
Leggatt, of Taunton Road, Bridgwater, caused £270.48 worth of damage by smashing a pane of glass and a broken sensor/sliding mechanism.
He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £300 compensation to Great Western Railway, along with a £32 victim surcharge.
The main station entrance was closed following the incident at about 4.11am. Police were alerted when a member of the public reported hearing a loud bang outside the station.
