AN incredible cancer campaigner is hoping to take her total donations to more than £10,000 with her final fundraising effort.

Anne Hines, from Donyatt, was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago, when she was 41 years of age.

Ever since she has been collecting cash for the charity by holding pink tombolas outside Ilminster’s Tesco superstore.

Normally her annual fundraising runs in later in the year, to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness week.

However, this year will see a slight change of plan.

Anne said: “I usually hold the tombola in breast cancer awareness week in October, but this year, 2020, it will be on Saturday, March 28.

“This is because it will be almost 20 years to the day that I was diagnosed and I am hoping that the money I raise will tip me over £10,000 donated to the charity since 2000.”

Anne has seen hundreds of items donated to her pink tombola each year, and is calling on members of the public to show their generosity for her one last time.

She added: “I have received fantastic support with my tombolas from friends and family and in particular my husband who has been invaluable in enabling me to hold them.

“Tesco has also been incredibly generous and supportive over the years.”

Anne said she plans to run the event outside Tesco throughout the whole day.

Previously she has got the stall set up between 8.30am and 9am, and persisted with her fundraising drive until around 6pm.

If you have any pink items to donate to Anne’s final effort, you can contact her directly to organise dropping them off.
