THE new £4.6m YMCA Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea facilities will be officially opened later this month.
The new building, which replaces the former Highbridge Hotel, will be opened at a special ceremony on January 31, and includes a new community cafe, a large multi-use sports hall and a number of modern meeting rooms as well as 23 homes for young people.
The original Highbridge Hotel building laid derelict for a number of years after being devastated by two fires in six years.
In December 2019 some residents had the chance to look inside the new building at a special Christmas event complete Christmas carols from The Coastline Singers as well as mulled wine and a roast turkey lunch in the building’s new community cafe.
