The annual competitions organised by Bridgwater Carnival resulted in cash prizes being presented to four local schools at a ceremony held in the EDF Centre in Angel Place, Bridgwater.
The very competitive Mask Decoration competition saw Elmwood School emerge as overall winners, with Cannington Primary School placed second and Somerset Bridge Primary School picking up the third placed prize. Northgate Primary School were the outright winners in the Model Cart competition.
Congratulating all the prize winners, Mick Crocker, President of Bridgwater Carnival, said: “We were astounded by the standard of the entries in both competitions this year and we admire the ingenuity and creativity demonstrated by students in all the schools taking part.
"We hope that their involvement in these projects will enthuse and inspire them to become involved in carnival in the future.”
Every year, Bridgwater Carnival organises a whole range of activities involving local schools in the area.
In the Autumn of 2019 some 17 schools took part with an estimated 1,500 children enjoying a variety of carnival projects, all linked to the educational curriculum, ensuring that they had fun while learning.
All the projects are supported and sponsored by Arts Council England and Autodesk.
