A FORMER mayor of Bridgwater has passed away.

Adrian Moore was a well-known figure in the town, having been mayor for three terms and a councillor for many years.

The current mayor of Bridgwater Cllr Tony Heywood said: "It is with deep sadness that I pay tribute to Adrian Moore, three times Mayor of Bridgwater, who recently passed away.

"Adrian was a highly respected local councillor who gave many years dedicated service to Bridgwater and its residents. He was always there to pass on words of wisdom and advice to fellow councillors and I know he will be sorely missed.

"My thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time."

Mike Slade, leader of the Bridgwater branch of the Inland Waterways Association, said: "Adrian was a very loyal friend to me and he was also a highly valued supporter of our Volunteers Group.

"He took a real interest in our activities.

"He worked behind the scenes with me to help our group grow and move forward and become a viable and successful group over the last five years.

"He will be sadly missed by many and we send our condolences to his family."
