NIGEL and Sally Baker have been crowned as the winners of North Petherton Town Council’s Christmas Lights Competition.

This year’s judges were Mayor Cllr Alan Bradford, together with Cllr Richard Ives and the 2018 winner Phillip West.

Over two evenings they visited traipsed around the parish judging the displays.

They were particularly impressed by homes in Ivory Road, Angus Way, Saxony Way, Sika Walk, Cheviot Street, Jutland Walk, Cotton Patch Road and the corner of Limousin Way in Stockmoor.

In Wilstock homes in Cornflower Close, Forsythia Close and Barberry Drive stood out, while in Moorland; Allways and Riverside Cottage were very good and a special mention is deserved for Chaple Lane in Fordgate where almost every house was decorated.

The judges said two homes in Petherton Road North Newton were excellent as was Stones Farm in the centre of the village.

In North Petherton itself there were two exceptional homes in each of the following roads: Broadlands, Amberhayes, Sunnybrow Close, Rectory Close and Watery Lane as well as a home in Shearston deserving of a mention.

However, 2 St Mary’s Crescent, North Petherton, owned by Nigel and Sally Baker, was the unanimous choice as winner for 2019 and they are pictured receiving the cup from Cllr Bradford.

The Mayor said he was very impressed with the community spirit the competition had generated this year and wished to thank everyone for making such a terrific effort.
