AN appeal has been launched after a man was found with serious injuries following a stabbing in Crewkerne town centre.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, was found by a member of the public in North Street at around 10.30pm on Thursday (December 12).

Police say he suffered stab injuries and was treated by a member of the public.

The first officers on the scene and the first officers on the scene and medics before being airlifted to hospital, where he remains.

His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

DS Adam Knee said: “An investigation is under way and we’re appealing for anyone in Crewkerne town centre who saw or heard anything suspicious last night to call us as soon as possible.

“While we haven’t established the exact location the man was attacked, we’re currently reviewing CCTV from around the town centre, making enquiries at local businesses and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

“We believe this may have been a targeted rather than a random attack.”

Officers are carrying out additional patrols around Crewkerne today to provide reassurance. If anyone has concerns, please speak to a member of the local neighbourhood team.
