SOMERSET is being warned to brace itself ahead of 'severe gales' forecast to hit the county this weekend.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning ahead of expected high winds reaching up to 70mph in coastal areas and between 50 and 60mph inland.
Forecasters say people should expect:
* Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
* Some bus and train services to be affected, with some journeys taking longer
* Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
* It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
* Some damage to temporary structures is possible.

Households are being urged to check gardens for lose items that may be disturbed by the wind, including Christmas decorations.
