A TEAM a festive fundraisers decked out in bright red Santa suits are set to lap Chard town centre.

The event is being held in support of the mayor’s chosen charities, and you can take part too.

Runners will set off from the Guildhall on November 29 at 6.15pm.

They will then head up Fore Street, down Holyrood Street, round Mill Lane, and back along Boden Street, before the final stretch up to the Guildhall to finish.

The short jaunt is being run by the Chard Town Team.

Chard mayor Jason Baker, a member of the town team, said: “Join in with the fun and take part in this year’s Santa run.

“The route starts at the Guildhall and then travels a short distance around the town.

“All entries will receive a medal for competing the course.”

All you need to do is return your sponsorship form and sponsorship money to the Guildhall between November 18 and 29.

You will receive your free Santa suit on receipt of your first £10.

Cllr Baker added: “Santa suits are limited and will be issued on a first come first serve basis.

“For more information or to collect your sponsorship form, visit the Guildhall reception desk.”

Funds from the run will be split between Cancer Research UK, Little Daffodils, Memory Cafe, and MIND South Somerset.

The Chard Town Team is also working towards the annual Christmas lights switch on.

It will take place later on Friday, November 29.

Jason said: “Join us to celebrate the festive season, see Father Christmas, browse the local shops, come and see the attractions and visit the Festive Fair at The Guildhall.”

Father Christmas will arrive at 7pm, and the switch on is at 7.30pm.
