A PLANNING application to build a new football stadium in Chard along with 295 homes on the town's northern border will be considered by South Somerset District Council today.
At the same meeting (November 20), councillors will also decide on an application for 142 new homes, which borders the potential stadium site.
If both applications are approved, 437 new houses could be added between the town's northern border and Chard Garden Centre.

The plans for the football ground would see Chard Town FC relocated to a new home, and come after the club was demoted to the Somerset County League Premier at the start of this season due to the gradient of its current pitch.
The two applications will be discussed by SSDC's Area West Committee today (Wednesday, November 20) at the Guildhall in Fore Street, Chard.

The meeting has a new start time of 4.15pm, but the consideration of planning applications will start no earlier than 5pm.
Ahead of the meeting, the district council has received 58 letters and emails in relation to the application for 295 homes and the stadium. This application received 30 objections, 25 in support of the application and 3 representations.
