ANDRE Soares from Portugal will once again grace the acoustics of St Mary’s Church when he joins the Bridgwater Choral Society for their second concert of 2019.

Festive trumpets will enhance the musical programme of classics presented by the Bridgwater Choral Society, a choir that has been described by soloists and audiences as both radiant and electrifying.

Joining Andre will be local soprano Rachel Phillips from Bridgwater, West Country based mezzo-soprano Louise Innes, and Iain Macleod Jones bringing his rich tenor voice from the Wells Cathedral Vicars Choral.

Under the baton of conductor Iain Cooper a full orchestra and large choir will delight the audience with Vivaldi’s thrilling Gloria, and Joseph Haydn’s St. Nicholas Mass.

Two popular compositions by Mozart; Regina Coeli in C and his much loved Coronation Mass will follow the interval in addition to the orchestra having the opening spotlights for each section of the concert playing the Fourth and Fifth Symphonies by William Boyce.

A very modest man, Boyce was so admired that on his death he was buried under the Dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. His symphonies are recognised today as being absolute gems of 18th Century music being bright and full of delightful tunes.
