A HOUSING development in Bridgwater is in the running for a top national award.

The Severn Valley’s King Copse development, in Westminster Way, has been long listed in the prestigious Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards.

The Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards were formed to recognise developments and buildings that go above and beyond what is expected of them. The award gives credit to developments of high quality that are deemed amongst the best in the UK.

Due to its outstanding performance, the Persimmon Homes scheme has been added to the long list in the Large-Scale Developer Category.

The site is managed by Glyn ‘Lewie’ Lewis and Sean Woodward, both of whom are 55.

The pair have spent four years on the site and have seen constant improvement.

Glyn, who is an ex-plumber who worked on many Persimmon properties before running Kings Copse, said: “It’s fantastic to be given some recognition for the work everyone has done at the site.

“We work on the basic principle that the ‘customer is king’. We ensure great customer satisfaction and enjoy what we do.

“Me and Sean are very passionate about creating an enjoyable and social environment for our employees, which really gets the best out of them. The team have performed brilliantly and deserve to be credited.”

Persimmon bosses are now keeping their fingers crossed that the site will make it onto the shortlist.

The development was nominated by Premier Guarantee after a site inspection. The inspection found that the quality of the build and management of the site was at the highest of standards.

Paul Moody, managing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “The Kings Copse development has been hugely successful.

“Homes on the development have sold very well and it is no surprise they are of the highest quality.

“The team at Kings Copse do great work. Lewie and Sean run the site impeccably, so I would like to congratulate them on their much-deserved nomination, lets hope we can go on and win it now.”
