ARMED police attended an incident near Bridgwater Station last night, only to find the incident was a false alarm.
Officers were seen in the Cranleigh Road and St John Street area at 11pm on Thursday night (October 3).
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said that call was 'either a hoax or a false alarm with good intent'.
The spokesman said: "We received a call at about 11pm last night near to Bridgwater Station.
"A man was stopped and he allowed us to check his bag. Nothing was found and the man, who was not arrested was allowed to leave the scene.
"Armed police attended because of information provided by the caller.
"They imposed a small cordon as a precaution."
