STAFF at a Burnham-on-Sea home care service are celebrating after winning seven prestigious awards.

Dedicated carers from Neighbourhood Care won three gold awards, two silver awards and two bronze awards at the Somerset Outstanding Care Awards at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare earlier this month.

The home care service took home gold awards in the employer of the year, domiciliary provider of the year and team of excellence categories at the awards, which celebrate the most dedicated individuals, providers and suppliers in the care industry across Somerset.

Speaking after the awards, Mike and Barbara Kaczorowski, owners of Neighbourhood Care, said they were ‘very proud of their team and were ‘thrilled’ to have taken home seven awards.

They said: “Our goal was to create a modern, vibrant company where people of different ages, backgrounds and beliefs feel valued and appreciated.

“We try to do something different, something to be proud of in an industry that can get such bad press at times.

“We are very proud of our team and our company.”

Carers and managers from the home care service also took home awards.

Carer Rebecca Pink-Jennings won a silver award in the care newcomer category, Fran Ward scooped up a bronze award in the deputy of the year category and Barbara Kaczorowska took home a bronze award in the home care manager of the year category.

The care service, which provides care and support to those living in their own homes across Somerset, also took home a silver award in the special award category.

Deputy manager Fran Ward said: “Winning an award is amazing, winning seven is something else.

“We aren’t as big as some care companies and often get overlooked.

“We are certainly on the map now.

“I’m super proud to work with such wonderful people and for an employer that really values its staff.”

Carer Rebecca Pink-Jennings, said it felt ‘amazing’ to win the award and said she feels ‘very humbled’ to have been nominated.
