MORE than 250 floral, vegetable and crafting entries went on display at Burnham-on-Sea Horticultural Society’s annual show.

On Saturday (August 10) scores of people packed in to Berrow Village Hall to see colourful floral displays, intricate craft works and homegrown vegetables.

Among the entries was a 22 and three quarter inch runner bean, which won top of its class, along with huge onions and marrows.

David Bryant, organiser of the event said there was a steady flow of visitors throughout the day and he was impressed with the standard of entries this year.

He said: “We have had a good year this year despite the challenging weather conditions which have made it difficult for growing.

“We had some terrific flowers, potted plants and craft work and all of the judges were very impressed with the standard of entries this year.

“We had a steady flow of visitors throughout the day despite the poor weather and I would like to congratulate everyone who entered for their brilliant entries.

“People work throughout the year to get their entries ready for this competition and it is great to see we had so many entries despite the changeable weather this year.

“I am now looking forward to next year’s event.”
