THE parents of a Bridgwater toddler are celebrating the news that their daughter’s latest scan showed no sign of a brain tumour.

A year on from her diagnosis with a life-threatening brain tumour, little Ryleigh Godfrey, three, is now clear of the disease.

Ryleigh started suffering from head tilt and sickness in May 2018 and, after several visits to her GP, she began struggling to walk. An MRI scan revealed the news that she was living with an aggressive brain tumour.

Ryleigh underwent countless operations, radiotherapy and chemotherapy; hospital trips became the new norm for the Godfrey family.

Last month, Ryleigh was admitted to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, because of recurrent infections. But now, her parents, Kay Parsons and Lee Godfrey, are delighted to discover that her treatment had been successful and there is no sign of the tumour.

In support of Ryleigh, more than a dozen of Ryleigh’s friends and family members took part in a sponsored Walk of Hope on Saturday, June 29, to help raise funds and awareness for the charity Brain Tumour Research.

Ryleigh led the walk in her push chair, unable to walk due to complications from her last operation.

Kay, 31, said: “We are over the moon with Ryleigh’s scan results; it was the best news we could have hoped for.

“After going through such a demanding course of treatment, it’s been emotional to see Ryleigh finally on the mend.

“It’s brilliant to see her hair growing back too.

“I was touched to see so many people take part in our Big Little Walk of Hope and I was proud that we raised more than £250 for Brain Tumour Research.”
