APEX Park will be filled to the brim with free activities as it hosts it playday event next month.

On Wednesday, August 7 Sedgemoor District Council will be putting on more than 50 free activities including Music with Mummy, Rugby Tots, Sing & Sign, Pete the Poet and Little Kickers for younger children in the Highbridge park.

There will also be model boats and trucks, slime making, fizz pop science, face painters, inflatables, paddleboarding and two climbing walls at the free event which will run from 10am until 3pm.

The playday allows parents to have a day-off from spending their hard-earned cash to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays as well as allowing families to spend quality time together having a picnic and exploring one of Sedgemoor’s most beautiful parks.

Sedgemoor District Council has contributed £5,000 towards the event with district council staff also set to attend the committee meetings to assist with key tasks in the months leading up to the event and to marshal on the day.

Rosie Pike, chairman of the Playday Committee said “All of the volunteer committee are really looking forward to playday, it is sure to be another fantastic event.

"I am so grateful to all of the help we have received from Sedgemoor District Council, the committee and all the volunteers - Apex Playday is one of the largest in the country so it is especially important we have a great team working hard behind the scenes.

"Don’t forget your sunscreen, sun hats (or wet-weather gear!) and water as it is sure to be an action packed day."
