A TALENTED ten-year-old singer has secured her first recording contract with a Somerset music producer.

Casey Slocombe wowed crowds as she sang her way through two 30 minute sets at The Lighthouse Inn in Highbridge Road, Burnham-on-Sea during their regular karaoke evening on Friday (July 8) and was spotted by South-West music productions director Martin Payne.

Mr Payne, who travelled down from Gloucester to hear her sing, handed Casey an envelope at the end of her performance which said she is off to a recording studio in Manchester next month to record three songs and to make a music video.

The ten-year-old singing sensation, who is currently starring in a production of Oliver at the MacMillan Theatre in Bridgwater, will also star in a Gloucester Christmas special supporting an Elvis tribute act and two other children who appeared in TV programme ‘The Voice’.

Casey’s mum, Kelly Slocombe, said the ten year old is ‘very excited’ to get into the studio and is looking forward to performing at the Christmas show later this year.

She said: “ She is of course looking forward to performing in Oliver next week in the McMillan theatre and the prospect of very busy times ahead.”

Casey will be performing at The Lighthouse Inn in August to raise funds for Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and is set to perform at other venues to raise funds for the charity later this year.
