A GROUP of volunteers from Bridgwater has fundraised £100,000 for Marie Curie, the charity for people affected by terminal illness.

The fundraising group was set up in 2012, and since then the group have run Great Daffodil Appeal collections and hold fundraising events such as bingo nights.

They are also supported by generous donations from the public, and the Julia Macdonald dance company, whose annual concert supports Marie Curie. One member of the group, Eileen Cooke embroiders and sells baby clothes and bedding, and donates the proceeds, around £1,000 a year.

Marie Curie provides nursing care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes in Somerset and also runs a free and confidential support line for everyone affected by terminal illness.
