Adventurous pupils from a Falmouth primary school were given the chance to taste a range of seafood delicacies when they received a special visit.

As fitting a visit during the town’s oyster festival, the shellfish were one of the options available for pupils at Marlborough School, when two of the town’s top chefs stopped by.

Arty Williams from The Cove restaurant and Maenporth and Sanjay Kumar from the Greenbank Hotel popped in to speak to pupils who had chosen the “healthy eating” module to study.

Other choices available to the youngsters were groups on charity, travel, activities, learning and the environment.

Alongside the oysters, the chefs offered the healthy eating youngsters smoked salmon and mussels – with varying degrees of success, as some of the children scoffed them down and others turned up their noses.

Also visiting were Sarah and Roger from Westcountry Fruit Sales, who told the children about the range of produce that is grown and sold in the area, and Sian Robbins from Carrick district council, who spoke about the Falmouth Oyster Festival.
