A 46-year-old man was left with potentially life-changing or life-threatening injuries after Saturday's crash between a car and a tractor in Mawnan Smith, police said on Sunday morning.

As reported by the Packet, officers were called to Penwarne Road shortly before 10.30am on Saturday after the collision between the car and tractor, which was towing a trailer.

Ambulance personnel and firefighters were also sent to the scene.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "As a result of the collision a 46-year-old male received upper body injuries, thought to be potentially life changing/life threatening.

"Local police officers, operations department officers and specialist officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene, closed the road and launched a full examination of the scene.

"Police are requesting that any witnesses with any information and or dash camera footage are to please come forward, unless they have already been in contact with officers at the scene."

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said that it received 999 calls reporting the crash and sent two fire engines from Falmouth, along with a rescue tender from Tolvaddon.

A spokesperson said: "On arrival they found persons trapped in a vehicle. Crews rescued one person using cutting equipment with the assistance of paramedics and the crew from the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service."
