A woman in her 60s has been left with "life-changing" injuries following a collision involving a 94-year-old driver this morning.

Police were called to Mylor Bridge at around 10.18am, to an incident involving a white Volkswagen Polo and a number of pedestrians outside Mylor Stores on Lemon Hill.

A woman was subsequently airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.

A police spokesperson said: "As a result of the collision a 63-year-old female has sustained serious life changing injuries; she is currently being treated in hospital. The other persons involved were treated at scene for minor injuries.

"The driver of the VW Polo, a 94-year-old local man, stopped at scene and is assisting police with their investigation."

Officers from the Roads Policing Team were called to investigate and establish how the collision occurred.
