A Cornish teacher has posted a video of himself performing an internet dance craze after he set his students a challenge and they won.

Pool Academy’s head of year seven, Ali Durant, promised to replicate the TikTok Renegade dance if pupils completed their distance learning assignments, with schools no longer open due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He asked them to send 50 outstanding pieces of coursework to him by the end of last week - prompting Mr Durant’s friends, family and colleagues to call on students to send in their work, because they too wanted to see him perform in front of an audience that could stretch across the globe.

As work began to be submitted Mr Durant revealed he was beginning to wish he hadn’t agreed to do it - but lived up to his word when the total was reached.

Posting the video, he encouraged students and their parents to also get involved, adding that it was "completely out of my comfort zone."

Academy princpal Claire Meakin said: “This is a wonderfully imaginative way to help students stay engaged with their learning."
