Following the need for social distancing as part of the coronavirus response efforts, Falmouth Town Council are to temporarily close public toilets from Friday, March 27.

At a meeting of the town council’s virus action group held on March 18, it was decided that closing public conveniences was necessary to protect the public.

The town council recognises the importance of these facilities, which is the reason that it took over the responsibility for them nearly seven years ago, to prevent permanent closure.

Whilst the science regarding infection is formative, the council feels this will further restrict opportunities for transmission of the infection.

Falmouth Town Council’s cleaning team will make every effort to keep the facilities as clean as practically possible up until the closing date. The washing times on all of the hand wash units have been increased.

However, it advises the public to be prepared for their closure and to only use the facilities when absolutely necessary.
