A CCTV image of the suspect in an armed robbery on a Mullion shop yesterday morning has been released by police.
The Packet reported how a major police investigation had been launched after Spar Hattons in Mullion Churchtown was held up at gunpoint.
Last night police issued a further statement to say: "At 6.20am on Saturday, March 14, an unknown man entered the Spar Convenience Store in Churchtown, Mullion with a double barrelled shotgun.
"He made a demand and left the store with cash and tobacco.
"The man was last seen heading in the direction of the churchyard.
"He is described as being over 6ft tall, possibly in his thirties and was wearing a full face balaclava, black coat and wellies.
"Police are keen to reassure the public that this is being treated as an isolated incident."
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have information in relation to this incident or knows the identity of the man in the photo to call 101 and quote crime reference CR/22311/20. Alternatively CrimeStoppers can be contacted on 0800 555111.
Police initially confirmed there was an "ongoing situation" in Mullion following reports that one of the village shops was surrounded in police tape.
The churchyard and children's play park was also cordoned off.
The shop was open again yesterday morning.
