Members of the public prevented potential disaster after they put out a fire in flat where no smoke alarm was fitted.
The have-a-go heroes saw smoke coming from a property just after 12.30am today.
Neighbours called 999 and some members of the public decided to get into the flat.
They put out the fire in the kitchen before the fire crews arrived.
The drama unfolded in to Turf Street, Bodmin.
Last night our crews from @BodminCFRS attended a residential fire where the occupant didn't have a smoke detector. Fortunately for them neighbours spotted the smoke and dialled 999.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Two appliances from Bodmin Community Fire Station were mobilised to reports of a fire in a residential flat. A flexi-duty group manager was also mobilised.
“On arrival crews found the fire was out on arrival but had involved the cooker and extractor fan above.
“The fire had been extinguished by members of the public who had entered the property after seeing smoke.”
An ambulance was called to treat one person suffering smoke inhalation. Whilst waiting for the ambulance, fire crews gave oxygen.
Crews then fitted a smoke detector before leaving the casualty in the care of the ambulance service.
