FLOOD warnings are in place across west Cornwall today as more wet and windy weather rolls in from the Atlantic.

The flood information service on the Gov.UK website says that overnight rainfall has now cleared and west Cornwall river levels are falling slowly, but remain high.

It states: "Further rainfall is forecast for Friday morning, easing during the afternoon with a further heavy band of rain expected on Friday evening into Saturday morning.

"River levels are expected to respond to this rainfall. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are monitoring river levels and have staff ready to respond if needed."

Following weekends in which Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis caused widespread disruption, the next 48 hours will be affected by Storm Jorge.

There is a yellow weather warning for rain from 3am today until 6am tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow a yellow warning for wind has also been issued by the Met Office, with gusts of more than 50mph expected to sweep across the county from midday to midday on Sunday.

Heavy showers will be a theme throughout the weekend, with temperatures struggling to no more than eight degrees celsius.
