A FALMOUTH fish and chip shop is rolling its prices back to the year 2000 to celebrate an anniversary.

It means that the staple Cornish favourite dish will be just £2.75 for takeaway and £3.75 to eat in at Harbour Lights.

While the chippy has been at Arwenack Street for 40 years, this coming weekend Pete and Sue Fraser will be celebrating their 20th birthday as owners.

Over the past two decades they have seen the business change from a self service restaurant to an award-winning MSC certified shop that boasts green credentials and serves gluten free and vegan options.

Pete said: “I can’t quite believe what fun Sue and I have had over the past 20 years. Great friendships have been forged with all the hardworking Harbour Lights crew, past and present and our most loyal customers, last year over 180,000 of you.

"So we want to say a massive thank you Falmouth for all the love you have shown us, we so appreciate it. It would be great to see you down at 'HL' this weekend; we’re planning a bit of a party.”

On Saturday there are several competitions taking place, with chances to win a year's supply of mushy peas and free fish and chips.

On Sunday the restaurant will go back in time to the year 2000, with cod and chips priced at £3.75 in the restaurant and £2.75 on takeaway, as well as sausage and chips and kids meals at £2.95 in the restaurant and £2.25 on takeaway.

It is limited to a max of two portions per person and the restaurant closes at 5pm on Sunday.
