The main road between Truro and Falmouth will be shut this afternoon for emergency repairs.
Cormac said at 11am that it had closed one lane from the Arch Hill roundabout to Playing Place.
Only road users heading towards Falmouth are affected, with access into Truro remaining open.
Cormac said: "Diversions are in place while we work to re-open the road as soon as possible."
The information caused some confusion as some road users said they had just driven that stretch without any problems.
However, a Cornwall Council spokesperson said the road will indeed be shutting this afternoon while work was carried out to an overhanging street light.
Cormac were just waiting for services to arrive before the closure was put into operation.
Cormac later contacted the Packet to say that its team had made the road safe and would be back this afternoon to complete repairs, when the closure would be back in place.
UPDATE: The work has now been completed.
