The driver of one of the cars involved in a serious collision between Helston and Camborne yesterday is in hospital with what police describe as “life changing injuries”.

The crash took place on the B3303 near Praze-an-Beeble, close to the Clowance Estate, at around 3.44pm between a red Land Rover Discovery and a silver Skoda Fabia.

Police, the fire service and ambulance service were all called, with firefighters from Tolvaddon Fire Station helping ambulance staff to extract the casualties from their vehicles.

Both drivers were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske, before one was transferred to Derriford Hospital.

Specialist officers from the Devon and Cornwall’s Alliance Roads Policing Team were then also called, along with a forensic collision investigator and scene of crime officer, with the road remaining closed well into the evening.

A police spokesperson said: “A full investigation of the scene took place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision.

“Police would like to thank the public for their patience while they investigated the scene. “ Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision and who may have dash cam footage to call101 quoting log 592 14/02/20.
