CORMAC Fleet and Facilities has won a major vehicle maintenance and cleaning contract with Go Cornwall Bus, as they expand operations to cover the whole of the county.

Go Cornwall Bus will operate a network of council-subsided local bus routes which are essential to local residents from April.

Al Hoare, Corserv central services director, said: “Our experience, proven track record of service delivery and renowned innovation contributed to the award of this contract. We will bring our successful fleet and cleaning operational services to support the Go Cornwall fleet, ensuring it is safe, modern, efficient and fit for purpose, whilst also ensuring residents and tourists have a clean and pleasant environment on their bus journey.

“We’ll be working closely with Go Cornwall Bus to ensure that we deliver exceptionally high standards of service. The partnership approach with Go Cornwall Bus will allow us to explore a range of additional services that we can offer in the future.”

The Cormac team will play a critical role in improving the customer experience for Go Cornwall Bus and its customers, by bringing a fully integrated vehicle maintenance and cleaning service provided at various locations across Cornwall.

It is the first time Cormac Fleet and Facilities are partnering in such a way that combines elements of both services, while paying all staff above the living wage, set each year by the Living Wage Foundation.

Cormac, part of the Corserv Group, will be recruiting for more people to join the team with over 80 new cleaning and maintenance jobs created, with flexible contracts available to suit the successful applicant. Training and further development is available to all employees and new recruits. The introduction of the living wage earlier this year has proven to strengthen the team, showing that paying people well is good for them, for business and the wider economy.

Richard Stevens, managing director of Go Cornwall Bus said: "We are delighted and privileged to be awarded a significant contract by Cornwall Council for operating bus service in the region. We believe that working in partnership with Cormac we will enhance the customer experience, improve the opportunity to travel and improve the air quality across the Duchy.

“Go Cornwall Bus prides itself on being a good community partner, through this expansion we are looking forward to working with people across the length and breadth of Cornwall. Spreading the great service delivery and innovation that makes us the current National Bus Operator of the Year."
