CORNWALL will enjoy only brief respite from this week's Storm Ciara, as more wet and windy weather is just around the corner.
Sunday and Monday saw dozens of trees fall, thousands of homes lose power and even lightning strikes to several properties in mid-Cornwall.
Severe gales battered the county for almost 72 hours and there were torrential downpours on Monday.
Storm watchers enjoyed the spectacle of the huge southwesterly swell pounding the cliffs at Porthleven, on Sunday, while wind surfers made the most of the waves at Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth.
Although today is a calmer picture, the stormy story continues tonight and into the weekend.
After a heavy band of rain passes across the county later today and into the early hours of Thursday, Storm Dennis will arrive on Saturday.
The Met Office has already put in place a yellow weather warning for wind and rain for Falmouth on Saturday, with gusts of up to 60mph possible, together with torrential rain.
Sunday is much the same, with another yellow warning for rain and more strong westerly winds.
