A former shop in Helston could be turned into a house if permission is granted.
A prospective buyer for 57 Wendron Street has asked Cornwall Council for advice over the possibility of changing the use of the Pilgrim & Treloar electrical store, which has closed permanently, and replacing the large shop window with a smaller one more in-keeping with the first floor.
There is already living accommodation upstairs.
Giving pre-application advice, planning officer Hilary Gooch said to support any change of use it would be helpful to show no realistic offers had been made for the shop as a retail unit.
She added that the traditional shopfront was "part of the history of the building" and the authority would "strongly encourage" features to be kept and incorporated into any development.
A full planning application will have to be made before any changes can take place.
