Firefighters were called to Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske this afternoon after two alarms were set off.
Four fire engines attended at around 1pm and found that the call was a false alarm.
People smelt smoke that had drifted into the building from outside, and after a thorough investigation firefighters found that there was no threat to the safety of those inside the hospital.
Two fire engines from Truro Community Fire Station, one from Tolvaddon and a fourth from Perranporth attended the incident.
The two alarms were activated from separate parts of the hospital and the fire service classified the incident as a 'false alarm with good intent'.
