A TEENAGER has been arrested after a man was left with a serious head injury in an attack in St Ives.

As reported by the Packet, a man in his 20s was left in a critical condition in hospital following the incident on The Terrace at around 1amon New Year's Day.

Devon and Cornwall Police have now said that a 17-year-old boy from the Penzance area has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He has been released under police investigation while enquiries continue.

The victim remains in Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and is now in a stable condition. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening, police added.

Detective Sergeant Allen Jordan said: “Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and have received an overwhelming response to our appeal for information.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance so far.”
