A Falmouth mum wants to treat her children to an unforgettable Christmas holiday after being diagnosed with cancer last month.

Her eldest daughter has set up an online fundraiser so that mum can take her two youngest to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park before starting intensive treatment in January.

Daughter Victoria said: "Mum's really upbeat, not one to be defeated. Seeing her like this is kind of a shock to the system because she's always been a strong person, doing everything for herself, and now she's needing help and it's a bit different.

"She does a lot for everybody so I wanted to give something back."

Chantelle Everest is the main provider for the family and has two young boys (Alfie, 8 and Billy, 12) as well as Marcus, 19 and Victoria, 21.

News of her breast cancer diagnosis last month dealt a blow to the household as she runs her own cleaning business and will be unable to work for at least six months.

She faces a mastectomy and possible radio therapy. Treatment is likely to start in January, "kicking off 2020 with a massive heartbreak for her children," says Victoria.

But, keen not to let the diagnosis spoil Christmas, Chantelle wants to take Alfie and Billy on a trip to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

Anyone can donate to the online fundraiser and help to make the trip happen by following this link: https://bit.ly/2sSSyie.

Victoria said: "I just want to give my mum something she's going to remember before her breast is removed and the treatment starts."

She added that Chantelle has felt "very alone" since receiving the diagnosis, and she is keen to speak to people who have gone through something similar.
