Labour’s General Election candidate for Truro and Falmouth says that the party's manifesto, launched on Thursday, will "bring about real change to communities".

Jennifer Forbes said: "A radical housebuilding programme, 100,000 truly affordable council homes a year, and a levy on second homes – that’s going to make such a difference to people in Cornwall.

“We’ll reverse Conservative cuts to children’s centres and ensure that all two, three and four-year-olds will get 30 hours per week of preschool education."

She said that Labour would create one million jobs in green energy and in making homes more energy efficient as part of tackling climate change.

She continued: “And following the Tories appalling handling of Brexit, we will trust the people by giving you the final say.

“There’s so much more in this manifesto that’s going to make a real difference to people. I can’t wait to start talking about these policies on the doorstep over the next three weeks and bring Labour’s message of hope to people in Truro and Falmouth.”

The General Election takes place on December 12.
